It is more important for students to understand ideas and concepts than it is for them to learn facts

Today, more and more students just learn facts in the school instead of the understanding of the ideas or concepts. Teachers only drive them remember things in the books and get a great score in examinations. Less educational system, even in the universities, would like to teach students about the ideas and concepts, for its inefficiency and harshness to learn. Whereas, in my opinion, the understanding of ideas and concepts is much more important than facts.

With the understanding of ideas and concepts, students can learn and find the regulations of the world, which is of great significance in our own study and life. As teachers cannot always company and teach us, we need to explode the world on our own someday in the future. When we know about the regulations, we can analyze the facts or the examples without the help and the guide from the teachers or the professors, which is much more useful than mere fact learning.

For example, I used to learn the narrative methods during my college time. Once I completely understand the methods, I can analyze every other narratives, novels or theatres or other genres. For instance, Hamlet written by Shakespear, I am able to talk about how Shakespear tells the story and how he portraits the characters or flourishes the feelings, just according to the methods.

Actually, the facts learning also has its own advantages. The most important one is that facts can help understand the ideas. When I am learning the narrative methods, my teacher also give the facts of the writing of Hugo as an example. Otherwise, it will be extremely difficult for most of the students who take the lesson first time to understand the terms in the textbook. However, the idea understanding is still principal, the facts are only accessory.

    Score: ungraded

    Issues:

    1. About 40% of the sentences exceed 20 words. Shorten/split them.
    2. Article errors
    3. Lengthy paragraphs. Restrict each paragraph to 90 words.
    4. Introduction paragraph repeats itself, keep it simple and short – state your argument and give some supporting information
