    Some people say that advertising is extremely successful at persuading us to buy things. Other people think that advertising is so common that we no longer pay attention to it. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

    Different people have dissimilar views about the function of advertisement. From my perspective, advertisement plays an important role in attracting people to buy things, and in a long run, we can not ignore the effect of advertisement.

    Some customers are easily allured by sophisticated and tempting commercials because the advertisements glorify the products and build intriguing images. On this ground, advertisements create many profits for the companies. For instance, luxury brands not only spend much money on the process of making products, but also on promotion. Such as the commercial for Chanel perfume depicts a fascinating love story between a famous actress and photographer, and delivers the idea of pursuing true love, which endows different meanings on the perfume. Needless to say the great shots and beautiful music which are closed to film standards, all these elements convince the customers that the perfume stands for romance and a high-quality lifestyle. To have a similar goal of lifestyle, the customers are driven to buy the perfume. As the perfume began to sell, it sold out immediately. However, without this commercial, the volume of sales can not be increased that much, solely depend on the impact of Chanel.

    On the other hand, some advertisements do not have a huge effect on certain people buying things, because they think it is very common. However, it is hard to find a new method to replace advertising for promoting products. Hypothetically, KFC, the fast-food giant, tries to sell its fried chicken by decreasing the scale of advertising. How can it attract the customers to eat the chicken in the shortest time? If they just rely on the recommendation of customers, they can not last too long and bankrupt quickly.

    In my opinion, advertisement is the most efficient and profitable way to promote products in the 21st century.
