Wild animals have no place in the 21st century, so protecting them is a waste of resources.

Some people argue that it is meaningless to protect wildlife habitats. However, in my opinion, I think it is totally wrong and it is a necessary and urgent issue to preserve the place that animals live

It is our duty to protect the wildlife’s natural habitats and human beings should take the responsibility. First, the lives of animals should be respected. We should not allow or even encourage the extinction of any species. Second, human beings are over those animals in the food chain and they are not existing only for the benefits of us. It is unethical not to take any measures to save those endangered species. Most importantly, it is true that nowadays people exploit or destroy every last square meter of land and it is human activities and behaviors that do result in the most loss of animals’ home. For example, we have cut down enormous areas of rainforest to make way for farmland to grow crops. In addition, increasing number of facilities and infrastructure for an urban expansion or enlargement also affect the habitats of wildlife. All of these human efforts destroy wildlife’s homes, thus leading to the extinction of many species of animals.

Another point I want to make clear is that the disappearance of the living places of animals could represent a major threat to animal survival as well as human beings. Therefore, it is certainly not a waste of resources to protect those lives. It is widely known that the extinction of some species could interrupt natural cycles and have a devastating effect on food chains. If the natural balance were destroyed, we can expect there would be more extreme weather conditions, such as flooding or drought, meaning the likelihood of outbreak of poverty, disease, and homelessness.

In conclusion, we should make more effort to protect the wildlife habitats, otherwise the potential of human suffering would be huge. And the cost of managing the resulting changes to our planet would far outweigh the cost of conservation.
