It is difficult for teachers to be both popular (well-liked)and effective in helping students learn.

As the development of the education system, the society has a higher expectation on the teachers. In my opinion, I believe that it is possible for good teachers to be both popular and effective in helping students learn.

To begin with, excellent teachers not only get engaged with students but also motivate and support the students all the time. To be specific, students like teachers who are very humorous and comfortable to speake with. As a result, the teacher is able to listen to students voices patiently. My personal example is a compelling example of this. When I was in the high school, my homeroom teacher was so nice. She was good at playing basketball and often played balls with students. We had lot of fun when she played ball with us. Students felt like she was a big sister and would like to share their concern with her. The teacher was a good listener and always helpful and supportive. She often shared her experiences with us. Through this way, almost all the students really followed her instructions and nobody disobeyed her. Her students often visit her even they already graduated from long time.

Furthermore, good teachers definitely know how to discipline students in order to help them effectively. In other words, the teacher’s ability is not only to guide students to learn knowledge but also teach students how to become a valuable person in the future.  A good teacher is good at managing students behavior and guide them gradually. For example, my brother is a good example of them. My brother is a trouble maker in the school. But since he met his science teacher, he changed a lot. He used to be very talkative in class and disrupt the class. His science helped him and reminded him to correct his misbehavior.

To sum up, it is very significant for a teacher to know how to build a close relationship with students and at the same time know how to effectively guide students in order to become a great teacher.
