Both the reading passage and the lecture discuss the effectiveness of teamwork projects. The author of the reading passage believes that [ using a group system is the best approach to new projects. ] the best approach to new projects is to use the group system to handle the work. Nevertheless, the [ The ] professor [, however,  ] puts forward three points and then [ that ] effectively refutes[refute  ] the opinions of [ raised in ] the reading passage.

To begin with, the reading passage argues that a group of people will possess a wider range of expertise and skills. However, the professor claims that some team members did not [fail to make a significant contribution  ] contribute much at all, getting almost [, which means that they often get  ] a “free ride”.[ “Depending on the context, you may choose to use present/past tense “] Besides, [many/some  ] group members who work hard were[ /are ] not given the recognition they deserve.

Next, the author believes that people are more responsive to the task assigned to them [assigned tasks  ] and able to devise creative solutions to problems. On the contrary, the professor argues that reaching an agreement among all group members is difficult. Thus, groups need more time for meetings in order to reach a consensus.

Finally, the author states that a team member who has a voice in making decisions feels [/may feel  ] better. However, the professor thinks that some influential members would have a great impact on group decisions. If they[unclear pronoun  ] went in the wrong direction, sensible members who try to warn the rest of the group would be ignored. As a result, all members would be blamed for the unsuccessful project [ failure ] .
