The speaker’s claim that ever-developing technology leads to the deterioration of humans’ thinking ability seems compelling on the surface. However, careful examination of the statement would reveal that though not directly, technology [word form error  ] advancements actually boost the development of our mental facility.

Supporters of the statement may contend that relying too much on technology makes mankind today indulge in material enjoyment, which becomes the primary breeding ground for a luscious and lazy lifestyle. In order to recognize the validity of this point[punctuation error  ] it is only necessary to consider the loss of people in voluptuous city life caused by abundant substance, an inevitable result of technology development. There is no doubt that people living in[ preposition error ] such a lifestyle would spend little, if any, time thinking for themselves.

Nevertheless, these two arguments are short-sighted and one-sided in that remarkable intellectual progress and successful exploration for knowledge in previously uncharted fields are intentionally ignored. Many achievements would never had[grammatical error  ] been made if the statement was tenable. In terms of thinking ability, the complexity of many modern subjects has gone beyond even the wildest dreams of people in[/during  ] the past few centuries. Therefore, the historical and empirical evidence has proved the assertion that humanity’s mental facility [repetition  ]will deteriorate unfounded.

On the philosophical side of this question, it turns out that the use of technology actually benefits the improvement (of the ability of )[2 ofs  ]humans to think for themselves. As a useful tool to solve problems and difficulties encountered in life, technology has been helping people to have[vague: maintain /achieve/attain ] a higher standard of living. Accordingly, by building cities and using weapons, they are able to get rid of basic living problems, like remaining alive in a hostile [ , ]wild environment.

Now people can think about many seemingly useless but important questions. (Not surprisingly at all)[/Unsurprisingly  ], the rapid development of humanistic subjects only happened[/began  ] after the Industrial Revolution when the[article error  ] technology was in relentless progress. Without technology to solve immediate living problems, many great philosophers in history would never have the chance to settle down and think about abstract questions (which would be futile to defend wild animals)[unclear  ].

In sum, under no circumstances should the significance of technology in human history be underestimated, since it not only makes many human accomplishments possible, [ punctuation error ]but also accords human beings free time to think for themselves. However, technology is not a panacea to all problems and humans need to make great efforts to ensure it would not have a harmful effect on their ability to think.
