This line curve above gives an approximate description of the trend of GDP growth in post-reform China, it could be clear that the total trend is upward from 1978 to 2002.

In 1978, at te beginning of reform and opening, the GDP was fairly low with no more than 10000 million yuan, and there was a moderate growth in the later 5 years. After 1983, the speed of growth became a little faster until 1988, there came a fluctuation at 200000 million yuan. Then from 1988 to 1998, the number rose more and more rapidly to 40000 million yuan in 1993 and turned gradually slower during the next 5 years, but it’s  obviously that the GDP had increased 3 times by 1998 in comparison to a decade before. Finally, from 1998 to 2002, the number reached its peak of 120000 million yuan.

In conclusion, the GDP in post-reform China had kept growing since 1978 and boomed from less than 10000 million yuan to 120000 million yuan after 3 decades.  (Sorry I cannot paste the graph of this title)
