For instance, knowledge about the historical development of western civilizations and their languages is essential to a English major. Even for science students, it is crucial to understand the evolution of their professional subjects and identify with the scientific spirit. No matter which particular major one is in, he should always keep in mind the historical track of his own specialty.

    Secondly, history education breeds Patriotism and boost community spirit, and therefore inspires college students to serve the society in the future. Historical narration is the way to construct national identity. Taking my own example as an example, the China’s modern history, especially suffering like the Nanjing Massacre, made me emotionally attached to my motherland. Going through ups and downs in the history class, students naturally cling to their nation and obtain their cultural and political identity. History teaching is irreplaceable for it instills patriotic feeling in the mind of future citizens.
