Schools are normally seen as the place ,where the next generation can increase knowledge to improve employability. Academic subjects are important to one’s career achievement, but students who do not learn what they indeed like can not enjoy their whole life .

Many teachers suggest that students should concentrate on core subjects such as science and technology ,because the performance in these courses can determine whether they can enter the job market successfully in the future. What students can learn in these subjects can provide a firm grounding and help them find decent jobs. For example ,students who acquire mathematical skills at school can build models to analyse data and work as financial analysts and engineers after they graduate. They are less likely to focus on key disciplines if they are required to spend time in interests.

On the other hand ,some educationalists are in favor of providing a broad and balanced curriculum in order to meet students’wide range of interests and motivate the next generation to make good use of their knowledge and interests to positively contribute to society. For example,art subjects can encourage students’ imagination and creativity. Future engineers who have taken this class are more likely to design more attractive products which enrich the cultural life of citizens. Students who do not access the class they like cannot achieve a sense of accomplishment ,even they perform well at school.

In my opinion ,students can not explore the area they really interest in if the education they accepted only focuses on core subjects. If someone is interested in painting,by learning what they really want ,they can understand how to use their major knowledge to decorate public facilities such as libraries ,metro stations or even toilets,and increase the artistic appeal of these places. If they do not realise this ,their education and career can be affected adversely.
