As countries develop, more and more people buy and use their own cars. Do you think the advantages of this trend for individuals outweigh the disadvantages for the environment?

It is said that an increasing number of people choose to buy cars for themselves because of the development of countries, which has advantages for individuals and disadvantages for the environment. In my opinion, the advantages of this trend for people are more important and the disadvantages could be weaken in some extent.

The reason for this trend may involve the recognition that people who do not have a car are rather restricted in terms of convenient transportation in daily life. By contrast, those who have bought a car could use it to go to work or travel at a faster speed. They tend to save a ton of time from time-consuming and exhausting commutes, which would let them spend a lot of time concentrating on work and personal development, as well as giving them an advantage in terms of having a good mood because they do not have to get on a crowded bus.

There are, however, some disadvantages. If there are too many traditional cars on the road, the environment could be faced with more and more car emissions, resulting in serious global warming which undoes the earlier gains. There is no advantage if car emissions worsen environmental pollution, because citizens’ health will also be influenced by it. However, these issues can be addressed strategically using new energy vehicles such as electric cars.

In conclusion, there are lots of advantages if people buy and use their own cars, and the disadvantages for the environment could be reduced by using new energy vehicles.
