Some people believe that having too many TV channels is good for people, while some others believe that this leads to poor quality TV programmes. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Televisions are omnipresent in almost every country across the world, thus offering immense TV channels for audience. Watching TV has been a critical facet of social life, and we have become accustomed to being inundated with various information. However, many critics contend that a large variety of TV channels would have a malignant effect on their quality.

The increasing number of channels has brought with it great benefits to viewers, as humans always opt to have more choices. To fulfill the desire of most age groups, various channels, from creational programme to natural documentary, were created intentionally. Thus, Youngsters and old people are both equipped with more opportunities to choose the favourite type of channels. The nature of pursuing more choices enables people to embrace this trend to achieve their satisfaction.

Nonetheless, opponents do not adhere to this view and believe that excessive number of TV channels will permit the space for the existence of low-quality programmes. Without a strict limit for channel number, some of programme producers will try to create as much content as possible in the pursuit of commercial benefits. For instance, most talent shows and competitions are full of meaningless advertisement, thus aiming at extra bonus at the expense of programme quality. Thus, for an ideal development of media industry, it is necessary to keep a profound quality by keeping a limited number of channels.

In general, my overarching position is that TV channels should be allowed for more choices, but producers need to strike a balance between diversity and quality. Whatever decision makers settle on, the desire of TV viewers ought to be a priority.
