Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? In the past, it was easier to identify what type of career or job would lead to a secure, successful future. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

It is hard to deny that many people think that the past career is easier to identify as promising and with a bright future, due to the past stable social environment. However, such a statement suffers from both logical and factual fallacies, and it should be examined meticulously in today’s social environment.

First and foremost, with the development of modern technology, especially information technology, information can be got more easily than in the past days. As people’s communication tools evolve from old style phones to smart phones, people nowadays can get more information than people who lived in the past days. Meanwhile, there is a claim which tells people that the amount of information that people get in one day today may be the amount of a person’s whole life in the past. Therefore, people will get information related to their job more easily. Besides, people can easily compare different jobs with information that exists online to decide which one is better to earn a high salary in the future. People can never hold such a large amount of information that is relevant to jobs.

Furthermore, the fact that modern countries’ law is more complete than in the past to promise people’s legal rights related to the job, indicates that it is easier to realize what type of job is more promising. Take the cases of Terry who experienced a past career and Susan who is experiencing today’s career. Both Terry and Susan are engineer which is a promising job. However, Terry has experienced unfair treatment in his career. The boss substitutes Terry’s job position with the boss’s relatives for a ridiculous reason, since there is no corresponding law to protect Terry’s rights, he can only tolerate such unfair treatment. As time goes, the law becomes more complete, as a result, when Susan faces the same situation, she could use the law to protect her own rights, to promise her job is still promising. Without unexpected human resource accidents, people can easily identify which job is promising.

In short I maintain that today’s promising job is easier to identify.
