Advertisers lay more emphasis on illustrating the innovations and new functions of their latest products, which persuades pupils that their commodities perform well compared with equivalents from their competitors.

Many factors cause this phenomenon and the primary reason is that customers tend to spend money on whatever is unavailable and unfamiliar with, rather than on something they purchase and use frequently. It is reported that pupils can get tired of old things but be attracted by novelties they glimpse of. Another key point is fierce competition forcing enterprises to create new products or update their commodities continuously to cater to market demand to maintain their profits. As a result, only by advertising goods that are new and unique can customers be attracted and kept to support their bands otherwise they might get bored with the old version and turn to supporting their rivals.

In terms of the influence of highlighting the uniqueness of their products in advertisements, I tend to believe the merits outweigh its drawbacks out of two considerations. On the one hand, innovation plays a pivotal role in the prosperity of the economy and scientific breakthroughs and the newer products are shown in commercials, the more motivated society is, which will benefit either companies or residents. On the other hand, however, it is fair to say that not everything in advertising is authentic and exaggerations and misleading are inevitable since films mainly focus on their interest instead of public needs. For instance, tobacco companies recommend new cigarettes for individuals though they understand the harm of smoking. Nevertheless, the majority of new products are good for customers and this phenomenon should be encouraged.
