Instead of asking the government to bear the cost of higher education, students should pay their own tuition fees themselves. Do you agree or disagree with this statement?

It is significant for many people to receive a university’s education which enables them to improve job prospects. People who support that the government should increase the investment in university education hold the opinion that some students can not attend university because of high tuition fee. As far as I’m concerned, students should pay their own tuition fees, althongh children of low social economic status can receive financial support.
If students pay the tuitions themselves, they will study hard and treat the educational opportunity carefully. Because they are aware of the cost of attending university, they will try their best to complete assignments, pass exams and obtain a degree. By contrast, if the government afford the tuition, many children will not cherish the chance. They may not study hard and fail exams from time to time.
In addition, it helps lessen the burden of government if students pay their own fees. In this way, government can spend more money subsiding primary and secondary education, which can encourage more students to obtain education and improve literacy of the whole society. What’s more, government can offer financial backing for postgraduates which can contribute to the development of askance technology.
On the other hand, if the students are from poor homes, government can exempt them from tuition fees. It can motivate these young people to enter college where they can increase knowledge and improve skills, finally they can find a good job. It can close the economic divide too and help build a fair society. But if they need to pay the fees, they are likely to drop out of school. As a result, they can not fulfill potential can improve their situations.
I agree that government should exempt students in disadvantaged backgrounds from fees, but abolishing tuition fees for all children is not plausible.
