Some people believe that it is good to share as much information as possible in scientific research, business and the academic world. Others believe that some information is too important or too valuable to be shared freely. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

People hold different views about the free flow of business and academic information. While the sharing of information does offer many benefits, I believe that the general exchange of information should be legally limited rather than totally open.

It is widely acknowledged that information exchange is important in such a digital age. On the one hand, free flow of information fuels the academic creativity and boosts the interdisciplinary cooperation. The constant communication in the academic circle offers a valuable platform for scholars to voice their ideas and create opportunities for new thoughts. On the other hand, through disseminating information among the public, ordinary people obtain easy access to a variety of knowledge and develop their critical thinking abilities. For instance, the TED speech sets a brilliant model in conveying inspiring ideas to the public in an accessible way.

Despite the advantages of sharing information, proper limitation is also necessary and not all information can be distributed freely. Nowadays, some original and valuable information equals to intellectual property, which deserves legal protection. These information such as the cutting edge technology, the highly specialized research achievements are certainly too significant to share freely. Furthermore, the strict scrutiny is also indispensable in the process of information flow, due to the possibility of misguided use or dissemination.

In my view, with proper limitation and legal rules, the exchange of information can benefit the individuals and society alike.

People have conflicting opinions as to whether we should share as much information as possible in scientific research, business and the academic world. In my opinion, although there are some benefits for us to share more information in these areas, some information is not mean to be given out to the public because of its value and sensitivity.

On the one hand, It is true that sharing information allows scientists to speed up their research process and helps companies to make better business strategies. As for scientist and academic researcher, most of their research areas are muti-disciplinary nowadays, which require researchers to obtain a wide range of knowledge and have access to the latest resources and information. So if experts come from different areas are willing to cooperate and be open to share information, their might stand a better chance to succeed in a short future. When it comes to the business world, we are living in the information era, information was considered as the most significant key to make money and boost economy.

On the other hand, some information is not mean to be shared, because of its value and sensitivity. The most representative example is genetic engineering, this newly advanced technology has proved to be beneficial on many aspect of our lives. It can be used to expand production of food and plants and cure complex diseases, but it also applied on human such as altering human genes and genetic editing which has been considered to be extremely unethical and hazardous by the general public. In addition, scientific information related to trade secrets, aeronautical, nuclear weapon and military affairs are also too valuable and critical to be shared.

Personally, I think open information do bring us benefits, however, there are some crucial information are supposed to be kept in secret for safety and ethical concerns. We could encourage information-sharing but it must be conducted extremely cautious and thoughtful.
