Globalization has made information circulating worldwide possible. Some people hold the view that we should share information in different fields freely while others argue that some information is confidential. I believe that sharing information freely is beneficial to all of us.

Sharing information will help scientists treat diseases. Sharing first-hand medical information around the world will avoid researchers going through trials and errors and will help scientists stick to the right direction of developing medicines and vaccines. For instance, since the outbreak of Covid-19, scientists from different countries have shared their researches about the coronavirus and the vaccine is expected to be developed in a year, which is faster than ever before.

However, information-sharing can also lead to plagiarizing of others’ achievements. When  essential information of a product development is released, some companies may take the lead to manufacture and apply for a property that does not belong to them. For instance, when an idea of developing a new application is shared among several companies, one of them may utilize the idea publicize the application first, which will undermine the competitiveness of the first company who proposes the application. Furthermore, companies’s creativeness will be undermined since it is easier to steal ideas from other companies.

From my perspective, sharing information can enhance innovation and creation. Through exchanging ideas and information, people can broaden their thinking patterns and develop new methods to solve problems. For instance, inventions of new materials in chemical field often depend on the efforts and communications of a group of scientists from different countries. Without sharing and communicating, human beings would have not made so many progresses in scientific fields.
