Living in a country where you have to speak a foreign language can cause serious social problems, as well as practical problems. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

The number of people who have to live in a foreign language speaking country has increase since decades ago. There are a lot of problems for theses people’s daily life, but I would argue that the benefit of living overseas where people have to speak foreign language can overwhelms these negative effect.

For one thing, staying in a foreign nation may not damage people’s social life as people all around the world tend to speak English to communiacate with others. Besides, people can also use the language spoken in this country to make a conversation and normally native speakers can understand that foreigner can not speak this language as fluent as they do, so they are going to slow down their speaking speed and make their words as clear as possible. And lanugage is not the only way to socialize with others. If people are truly want to get into local society, they will use a varity of ways, such as body languages, eye contact and translate apps to achieve a conversation. So they are able to make lots of friends instead of being isolated by local people.

Other problems associated with practical life can also be solved. Living in a strange surrounding not only make people feel stressed and afraid, but also make them become mature and learn to take their own life and work commitment. For example, they are able to deal with problems refer to accommodation like house rent, electricity and water cost as well as integrate into the community. And living abroad to work or study is more efficient because of the high cost of living and tremendous pressures put on them.

Overall, living in a non-native-speaking country can neither cause  serious problems in people’s social lives nor in dealing with their practical work.

    Score: ungraded

    Issues:

    1. Nearly 70% of the sentences exceed 20 words. Shorten/split them.
    2. About 25% of the sentences are passive. Convert them into their active counterparts.

I will send you screenshots to illustrate specific problems/errors.

Thanks teacher, I have revised my article:

The number of people who have to live in a foreign country has increased since decades age. There are a lot of problems for these people’s daily life, but I would argue that the benefits of living overseas where people speak a foreign language can overwhelm these negative effects.

For one thing, staying in a foreign nation may not damage people’s social life. Because people all around the world tend to use English to communicate with others. People can use the language spoken in this country to make a conversation, and generally, native speakers can understand that foreigners cannot master this language as fluent as they do. So they are going to slow down their speaking speed and make their word as understandable as possible. Besides, language is not the only way to socialize with others. If people sincerely want to immerse themselves in the local society, they will use a variety of methods, such as body language, eye contact and translate apps to achieve a conversation. So they are able to make lots of friends instead of being alone.

Other problems associating with practical life are also solvable. Living in a unacquainted surrounding not only make people feel stressful, but also give them a chance to experience a different world and learn to take their own life and work commitment. For example, they are able to deal with problems referring to accommodation like house rent, electricity and water cost as well as integrate into the community. And living abroad to work or study is more efficient because of the high cost of living and tremendous pressures put on them.

Overall, living in a non-native-speaking country cannot cause serious problems neither in people’s social lives, nor in dealing with their practical work.
