Many museums and historical sites are mainly visited by tourists and not local people. Why is this case? What can be done to attract local people?

The majority of the people who visited museums and historical attractions are visitors of the areas. There are various reasons could be used to explain this phenomenon and tourists cites can take steps to attract local residents.

Tourists’ curiosity to the places they visit may serve as the main reason causing a large number of visitors  go to the sightseeing attractions. Those who from other areas want to know more about the places they travel, consequently, while travelling, they would like to acquire the information about the sites or countries. Another reason is that the individuals who live in the area are familiar with it, they would rather take a trip in other cities or countries. They have already know a lot about this place, which means they probably think it unnecessary to go to the local museums or historical cites.

However, there are several methods that tourists cites can take up. First of all, those tourists cites can pose some interesting videos on local medias, which could be helpful to draw residents’ attention about them. For example, parents may be interested at a meaningful art galleries in museum and bring their children to it to spend a nice weekend. Moreover, sightseeing attractions can reduce their prices of tickets for local residents. If local people could pay less for the entrance, they may go to museums and historical sites more frequently because they live not for from these places and they are able to pay little to spend their leisure time.

To sum up, tourists’ passion of the areas and local residents’ loss of interests may be the reasons of this phenomenon and tourists cites’ activities are beneficial to attract local people.
