More and more people are using computers and electronic devices to access information; therefore, there is no need for printed books, magazines and newspapers on paper. To what extent you agree or disagree?

With the development of technology, a growing number of people use electronic devices to search for an enormous amount of information. Therefore, some people believe that printed books will disappear one day. However, I disagree with such opinion.

It is understandable that the computer is a convenient way for people to have access to data. People only need to type in some key words in the searchengine like Google or Wikipedia, and they will expose to all the information immediately within a few seconds. However, people will invest more time and effort if they consult the printed references or go to the library to find specific information. Moreover, electronic devices are also environmentally friendly. It means that factories do not need to cut down trees, and even discharge harmful emissions to rivers when they manufacture products.

On the other hand, nothing can replace the determinant effects of printed books. Although people can reach a great deal of information, they are also bombarded with inaccurate or misleading information. Because of the anonymity on the internet, online users do not need to worry about their subject information or critics to be punished. However, printed books and newspapers have more reliable information sources like professional journalists, and they always take the responsibility to spread the truth instead of the mistakes. In addition, computers are still not affordable for people who live in impoverished areas. The majority of children in developing countries like Pakistan read printed books to receive basic education.

In conclusion, new technology helps people save time and effort in finding information. However, printed books still play a vital role in people’s daily lives.
