It makes sense to rid all old buildings and construct new houses on account of their great amounts of money spended on the old building’s preservation. I wound argue that some old constructions need to be replaced, while certain buildings deserve further protection.
One reason of approval of demolishing old buildings is that repairing them is a waste of money. With the development of urbanization, increasing number of people tend to live around the center of city, old houses gradually become empty. Because of no people living in the old houses as well as their little business value, it is economically sensible to knock down these old buildings.
Another demerit of spending money repairing old buildings is that it will hinder the city’s development. The traffic routes tend to be more complicated with the larger urban space nowadays. Old houses have been constructed for a long time, and they are failed to suit modern traffic planning like subway route plans and the new flight route regulations. So, it is no need to retain them and they should be knocked down, which can greatly facilitate the form of modern traffic in scale city.
On the other hand, certain types of old buildings need money to be protected on account of their cultural significance. Culture sometimes is a symbol of the spirit of a nation. The preservation of old construction with great art means that related historical material for research could be maintained, which can enrich nation’s culture.
