The reading article gives three main methods to prevent The Salton Sea in California from being too salty to provide living habitat for fauna. However the professor claims that they won’t be efficient at all.
The first solution, remotimg salt through desalination, according to the teacher, may cause some unexpected dengous like clinicals, and it will be harmful for humanbeings.
Speaking to the secend one, diluting the lake by bring in the water from oceans, which is 20 percent less salty. Again, the professor points out that it will be costy and not possible for small towns to built such a long canal or pipeline to deliver sea water from hundreds miles away.
It seems that the last one, builting walls to divide the lake into several parts, may be the most realistic one. But the potentional risk is this measure will not last for a long period. It may work well for decades, but the geological events like earthquake will destroy those bans dtamatically, resulting in an evenly salty lake again.
