It is a common phenomenon that, in many countries, parents manage to let their children go to single-sex schools or co-education schools. Some people believe there are some negative aspects sending children to sing-sex schools in the future, and I partially agree with this idea and hold there also are positive factors – these students can receive a more specific curriculum.
Perhaps one of the drawbacks for the children who study in single-sex schools is it is hard for them to assimilate in the future and to adjust to a mix gender society. Due to a singular life mode in school, they do not have opportunities to interact with opposite gender; this may cause some social problems. For example, in their daily lives, they are too shy to communicate to opposite gender actively; they might fail to have a social circle with opposite gender. And, in their future work, there is no such a company only consisting of sing gender. This means where cooperation is required; however, it may bring uncomfortableness for these children to fit into this working mode – a mixed-gender cooperation. Eventually, they might feel depressed as a result of cannot being merged into society better.
However, there are two sides of a coin. Studying at a sing-sex school allows students to receive a more specific curriculum, this helps students to better connect themselves to their courses. For example, in all-girls schools, teachers could tailor curriculums just directly right for girls, such as teaching some more romantic thesis textbooks in classes, whereas in all-boys schools, teacher can introduce more heroic thesis-based books. By doing this separately according to their preferences and nature, children’s interests will be greatly cultivated and then they are more likely to achieve high-efficient learning. As a result, they will be more skilled or knowledgeable they graduate and be more competent in their work.
In conclusion, I will not deny that there indeed are drawbacks for children learning in single-sex schools; however, this learning style also can be a good way for them to study more efficiently.
