Being educated has been and continued to be the best way to break the layer among the upper class, middle class and working class. Education is still a hot issue. Not only the whole society is focusing on the quality of schooling, parents are also increasingly involved in children’s education.

Looking through history, citizens are better educated progressively, including contemporary children’s parents.  Different from older generations, today’s parents are far educated. While the previous generations can even hardly read, many people now get high education. So it isn’t the past age that doesn’t want to get involved in teaching. It is because they have no capability of participation in education. In contrast, parental education, nowadays, is able to match schooling, helping children better study.

Also, teachers emphasize the overall development of children, which requires parents’ joint efforts. For years, academia has been discussing about side effects brought by exam-oriented education. And now, HRs confirm that older ways of teaching can’t adjust needs of companies. Not to mention expert knowledge and techniques, other skills, such as of communication, corporation and presentations, matter as well. However, those abilities are difficult to be taught by teachers solely. It is time for parents to join in, cultivating children how to make friends, express their kindness, and develop good habits.

Moreover, great pressure urges parents to develop children’s sustainable competitive advantages. It’s not uncommon that students take extra courses after school, leaving no leisure time for entertainment. The tighter labor market accounts for this distorted education. In parents’ view, only if their kids master more skill than others do, can they win the higher-paid job among millions of competitors, and live better in the tense and cruel society.

Overall, educated parents, general development, and fierce competitions collectively contribute to parental involvement in education. And the involvement is likely to go deeper in the future as the phenomenon mentioned will exist for a long time.
