Students sometimes could be required to finish some assignments with a deadline, like finishing a paper in a week, preparing a presentation within three days or even learn as much as possible about a subject in a insufficient time. And some people argue that working in a team is better than working alone. I disagree with the statement.

On the one hand, working in a group is a better approach than working alone in a time-limited learning. Working in a team can provide more muscle than working alone, which means each one only need to focus on one part of the whole work. To be more specific, students can divide the content of subject into different parts and each group member will be responsible for a certain part. And students can teach other members about what they learn.  It would always be easier to learn from someone who already have mastered the knowledge than learn by oneself.

On the other hand, to finish the abundant learning in a short time, learning alone is better than working as a team. Because it is hard to get the whole team together to learn. Each student have their own time table, and the time tables usually tend to be very different. So it will be tough to set a time which the team gather together and start to learn. But if students learn on their own, they can learn whenever they want and will not be worried about others’ time table. So those who learn alone will learn better in a short time than a team.

To put it in a nutshell, though learning as a team could help students to benefit from more muscle and be able to learn quickly, to learn alone will also save students a lot of time and enable them to finish the learning. Therefore, it is unjustified to say that working in a group is better than working alone when students are required to learn as much as possible in a short time.
