Some people think that social skills are as important as academic qualifications. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

There is no denying that the specific issue of the importance of social skills and academic qualifications has become controversial. However, despite those who are against social skills, I approve wholeheartedly of the idea that the former is as important as the latter.

Those who hold a negative attitude believe no matter which time or occasion, academic qualifications always being the priority. Qualification indeed plays a significant role in people’s careers. For instance, it symbolizes academic ability and some other faculties, such as creative thinking, logicality, insight, and even imagination. These abilities are crucial to the workplace. Besides, the advantage also improves competitiveness, which has benefits for finding an ideal job and giving better employment prospects.

However, we must recognize that social skills become increasingly more important than ever. It is well known that social skills bring social relationships and improve the experience, enabling to broaden the view. In addition, the above is also the most valuable point. Moreover, lacking skills causes a serious of problems, along with isolating to the groups, getting unable to communicate so that slowing down the work progress. As a result, without intercourses will leave such a bad impression. Next, the recent media reports that a student of Peking University only studies and does not participate in any social activities. Finally, he can’t graduate because his quality development credits are not up to standard. Therefore, the academic ability can be effective only when combined with social skills.

It is hard for both sides to agree on this complicated issue, but I still commit to the notion that today social skills have already become as major as academic qualifications.

There is no denying that the importance of social skills and academic qualifications has become controversial. I would be more inclined to agree that the former has become as important as the latter.

Certainly, it is reasonable for some people to insist that academic qualifications always being the priority. Qualification indeed plays a significant role in people’s careers. For instance, it symbolizes academic ability and other faculties, such as creative thinking, logicality, insight, and even imagination. These abilities are crucial to the workplace. Besides, the advantage also improves competitiveness, enabling one to find an ideal job and give better employment prospects.

However, we must recognize social skills are increasingly more important than ever. They bring social relationships and improve the experience, enabling to broaden the view. In addition, the above is also the most valuable point. Teamwork is needed more than ever in modern society, and people need to communicate a lot to get tasks done smoothly. As a result, without intercourses would be a much worse situation. By the way, there is a recent report that a college student never participated in any activities and only went to class. Finally, he can’t graduate because his quality development credits are not up to standard. As mentioned above, the academic ability works best only when combined with social skills.

It is hard for both sides to agree on this complicated issue, and I still commit to the notion that today we should attach the same importance to them.
