Some of the methods used in advertising are unethical and unacceptable in today’s society. To what extent do you agree with this view?

It is sometimes argued that some advertisements are presented in an immoral way that most of people cannot accept. In my opinion, I completely agree this argument and advertising should be more reasonable.

There are a range of unethical and unacceptable methods to advertise. Firstly, some adverts are showed in a less evident way so that we cannot recognize we are manipulated greatly by them. For example, many products and service are placed non-obviously in film. We are forced to see them and be impressed in our head. Secondly, some products marketing on children take advantage of children’s unmatured thoughts to make advertisements. In this way, children are be influenced easily and profoundly and put pressure on their parents to buy expensive but not necessary products. Finally, companies often invite celebrities to endorse name-brand merchandises, which would encourage people to associate name brand with high social status.

On the contrary, other kinds of adverts are presented in a more reasonable way which shows the advantages and disadvantages of products objectively. These adverts inform us the abundant choices we have, and we can consume according to our demand and preference instead of being affected by them. For instance, clothes adverts ought to let consumers know whether the products are suitable to buyers with different skin colors and body types rather than only showing off the good aspects exaggeratedly. What’s more, noncommercial adverts such as public service adverts are also be showed in an acceptable way.

In conclusion, from my point of view, many advertising agencies are using immoral and unreasonable methods to put adverts in front of our eyes.

    2. About 50% of the sentences are passive. Convert some of them into their active counterparts.
