Some people argue that the fittest and strongest individuals and teams always achieve the greatest success in sports. But other people think success is more related to mental attitude. Discuss both views and give your own opinions.

As the prosperity in sports industry has translated into a rise in the population of sportsman, it also arouses debates around which element is what the sport victory hinges on, physical fitness or mental wellness. Both sides of supporters have given their distinct opinions. In my view, only by the perfect combination of the two factors can the individuals or teams ensure their success in sports.

To start with, the physical advantage plays an overwhelming role in the performance of sport competitors. The primary goal of sport meet lies in the evaluation of the athlete’s body control, meaning that a sportsman requires not only a strongly-built physique but also a highly-skillful use of certain muscle. Following this principle, those sportsman with better body-function are thus prone to succeed because they struggle to bring out the best state of their bodies in competition. For example, the swimmer with better lung’s capacity and all-round muscle is considered more likely to set a new record.

In addition, the well-prepared mentality also remains as equally essential for a well-fit participants in sports. Despite having a well-functioned body, the sportsmen still have a long way for their desired victory on sport unless they are equipped with strong psychology. Specifically, due to certain personality such as determination and calmness, fine sportsmen become top-notch winners because they, with great willpower, always stick to the end and even come up with wise strategies in any fierce competition, regardless of how physically exhausted they might be.

Given that physical and mental factors both matter to the athletes, personally speaking, champions in any sport categories excel others both physically and mentally. While a fittest and strongest sportsman see no worry in his physical competitiveness, an extra advantage at his mental attitude would add brilliance to his present performance, making one a top-ranked player.

By and large, on the prerequisite of the physical fitness, mental wellness should be valued as equally essential among the factors during a competition. The sportsman or sport-teams should lay particular emphasis on these interconnected aspects in order to approach the victory.
