Some people believe allowing children to make their own choices on everyday matters is likely to result in a society of individuals who only think about their own wishes. Other people believe that it is important for children to make decisions about matters that affect them.

People have different views about whether children making their own decisions on daily routines is necessary. While I understand that some people think this habit leads children to be selfish, I agree with others that choosing by children themselves is important for children’s development.

On one hand, children who have permission from parents to make their own choices on everyday matters get the implication that their own wishes are the most important. This belief would lead children to concern only about themselves rather than other people or events. Children tend to calculate the most profitable way to get whatever they want, if lacking restrictions or guidance, they may lose themselves in the material world chasing popular trends of food, clothes, or entertainment. Therefore, they are less likely to take responsibility to make efforts for a better society.

On the other hand, it is essential for children to make decisions that affect themselves due to various reasons. Firstly, children who have the ability to make their own decisions are more independent and confident when they get older to decide on a career or life direction. If he or she decided himself or herself to become a doctor in high school, he or she will have the determination to achieve this goal even without support from family, because they trust themselves. Secondly, children can learn time management skills by making choices in everyday life as there are so many options online or offline to choose from. They can understand the importance to tackle the major problems before the other minor ones to save time instead of using much time to choose a small item. Finally, children also have the right to make decisions about their lives as adults. Parents or teachers could pay more attention to provide appropriate advice to children rather than to deprive their right to make decisions.

In conclusion, children should be allowed to make their own choices with help from parents and teachers to prevent them become selfish.

    Issues:

    1. Lengthy paragraphs. Restrict each paragraph to 90 words.
    2. About 60% of the sentences exceed 20 words. Shorten/split them.
    3. State your argument clearly in your introduction, why do you agree?

I will send you screenshots to illustrate specific problems/errors.
