IELTS Writing Task 2: Some people think increasing the price of petrol is the best way to solve growing traffic and pollution problems. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Making petrol price higher is the best solution to increasing traffic and pullution issues, and I totally agree with that. In addition, there are still various measures to deal with these problems.

The higher petrol price means that people who have cars and those tend to buy cars will cost more than ever on their transpotation, however, there is no doubt that this kind of extra expenditure is not cost-efficient. Nowadays, thanks to the development of technology, we have increasingly mutiple selects to transport, which means that we are not only limited in buses, taxis or foot. For example, currently, sharing economy has led to a new trend, and we can share anything as long as we want, and apparently, vehicles are included. Due to this change, it has become less necessary to have private cars, because the sharing public vehicles are more convenient. In addition, there are also many newfangled machines appear in our sight. Such as the one that you just need to stand on it and keep balance, then you can control your own direction by change your physical slant slightly. All of these convenient vehicles are able to alter people’s minds on private cars, and then they will realize that it is uneconomical to spend more money on petrol. Thus, it will be helpful to alleviate relevant problems.

However, we cannot just simply rely on this one method and expect it to solve the issues thoroughly, we also need to find other ways. In terms of governments, they should introduce policies and give subsidies so that can encourage corporations produce more energy efficient products. Industries and companies should take responsibilities to research and develop new vehicles or new ways to drive the trend and guide customers’ consumption. For the public, we should form an awareness of environmental protection consciouly, and then decrease the frequnency of using private cars.

In conclution, the higher price of petrol is beneficial to solve problems about traffic and pollution, nevertheless, we should figure out other measures from the perspective of governments, companies and individuals to tackle with those issues authentically.
