Some professors make a recording of their lectures and ask students to watch this recording before class so that they can do more practice or discussion in class. Do you think this is effective?

With the development of science and technology, teachers can use more various methods for teaching. Some of them prefer to ask students to learn by themselves with the help of recordings. From my point of view, this strategy is quite useful, for it helps us save much time.

First, it shortens the time used for teaching. By listening to the recordings, students learn the lecture in advance and record confusing parts. In this situation, professors could merely answer the questions proposed by students and save time for illustrating all of the lectures. Because of the fixed lecture period, the more time devoted to new knowledge, the more effective a lesson is. Thus, time efficiency is increased in this way.

Second, the saved time can be used for discussion, which benefits a lot. It is of great possibility that many mistakes made by different students will occur during a discussion. Sometimes we share the same mistakes with others. If so, it will be a great opportunity for us to find out the solution together. Our ability of expression will be enhanced when we discuss a lot. Even if we understand everything correctly, others’ methods may be quite distant from ours or even more efficient.  As is known to us, students usually present numerous reactive ideas when discussing, which broaden our limitation of thoughts as well as horizon. So no matter taking which situation into consideration, discussion helps us establish a logical way of thinking.

Last but not least, by saving time we have more chances to do some practices. Taking advantage of on-class practices is beneficial to our learning; that is, professors can watch students’ performances directly and find out how much have they have learned immediately. If time left is enough, they may continue explaining common confusion showed by students’ feedback.

All in all, considering the three reasons mentioned above, I think the means effective.

With the development of technology, teachers can use more kinds of teaching facilities. Some of them prefer to ask students to learn by themselves with the help of recordings. From my point of view, this strategy is quite useful, for it helps us save a lot of time.

First, it shortens the time used for teaching. Students are required to watch the recordings before class, then they can find out what confuses them and ask questions about these parts in class. Then during the lecture, the only thing for professors to do is answering these questions. They no longer need to waste time repeating the part that everyone understands. Thus, by doing so, teaching efficiency can be increased dramatically.

Second, the saved time can be used for discussion, which benefits a lot. In most cases, students may misunderstand parts of their lectures, and these mistakes can be exposed by discussion. Sometimes we share the same mistakes with others. If so, it will be a great opportunity for us to find out the solution together. Our ability for expression will be enhanced when we discuss a lot. Even if we comprehend everything without confusion, others can also inspire our thoughts. For instance, when faced with the same problem, others’ solutions may be more creative and simple than ours. So in both situations, we benefit from the discussion.

Last but not least, by saving time we have more chances to do some practices immediately. As is known to us, doing practices as soon as we learn something new helps us better understand the knowledge. If time promotes, we can practice a lot. When we practice in class, professors can watch our behaviors and find out whether we understand the lecture deeply. If not, they can point out our faults and repeat explaining the confusing parts again. On the contrary, however, if we do some practices after class by ourselves, we may never find our errors without guidance.

All in all, because of the reasons mentioned above, I believe this method effective.

Some professors make a recording of their lectures and ask students to watch this recording before class so that they can do more practice or discussion in class. Do you think this is effective?

Thanks to the development of technology, teachers can make use [simplify verb] of more kinds of [simplify = delete kinds of] teaching facilities than before. Some of them prefer to ask students to study by watching recordings before class. From my point of view, this strategy is quite useful, for [preposition error] it helps students like us save a lot of time.

First, this teaching approach [unclear which teaching approach] shortens the time used for teaching. Students are required to watch the [uneccessary article] recordings before class, and they can find out [use better verb] what confuses them, asking [wrong verb tense] questions about these parts in class. Then during the lecture, the only thing for professors to do is answering these [wrong verb tense] questions. Thus, teachers no longer need to waste time repeating the part that everyone understands. By doing so, teaching efficiency increases dramatically [combine the last two sentences].

Second, the saved time can be used for discussion[what kind of discussion? be more specific]. In most cases, students may misunderstand parts of their lectures, and these mistakes can be exposed by us [delete by us] when discussing. Sometimes we share the same errors with others. If so, finding out the solution can be a great opportunity for learners like us.[combine two previous sentences into one] Our ability for expression [use verb form ‘to express’] will be enhanced after enough discussion. Even if we comprehend everything without confusion [redundant], others can also inspire our thoughts. For instance, when faced with the same problem, others’ solutions may be more creative and simple than ours[unclear]. Therefore, in both situations, [need only one transition phrase] we benefit from the discussion.

Last but not least, by saving time we have no [?] more chances to do some practices immediately [reword]. As is known to us [unecessary], doing practices as soon as [immediately] we learn something new [that] helps us better understand the knowledge. If time permits, we can practice a lot. [combine two previous sentences] When we practice in class, professors can watch our behaviors [singular] and find out whether [replace with ‘if’] we understand the lecture deeply. If not, they can point out our faults and repeat explaining [rephrase]. On the contrary, is [if] we do some practices after class, we may never find our errors without [missing article] teachers’ revision.

In light of the reasons noted above, I believe watching teaching [class] recordings is effective.
