At universities and colleges, sports and social activities are just as important as classes and libraries and should receive equal financial support.

Recent years have witnessed a significant rise in sports and social activities among universities. For Peking University alone, some 20 International conferences and sports events are hosted there every year. Such rises reflect the emphasis of campus to improve students’ overall ability. In my opinion, it is wise of universities to do so. It will not only enrich the leisure time of university students, but also prepare students for their future careers.

As a report on mental health of university students suggests, as much as 20% teenagers on campus suffer from different kinds of mental diseases. This phenomenon reflects the overemphasis on academic achievement and the lack of leisure activities during their university years. Sports and social events, however, can fill the void. When students are fighting for their sports team or preparing for an incoming commercial ceremony, a sense of achievement and relax would spontaneously arise from their mind. What’s more, the connection and cooperation between team members may bring them into a zoom that students will feel they are not just working for themselves. They are in a team! This sense of belongings may help college students overcome every difficulty they temporarily face. They would end up having a stronger personality and an enriched heart.

Moreover, exposing students to sports and social activities is beneficial to their future careers. Even though people attend universities mainly for academic purposes, they should admit that except for a few students, most of them would pursue their careers outside universities. On this occasion, communication skills and the sense of cooperation may play a greater role in future achievement. These soft skills, nevertheless, can be obtained from sports and social activities.

Admittedly, academic skills are crucial to university students. But what we need to keep in mind is that students are expected to leave campus with more than that. They need to be a grown-up with overall abilities. In this sense, sports and social activities are equally important. These activities deserve more attention and a lean of financial support.

Recent years have witnessed (factual error/grammatical error) a significant rise in sports and social activities among (preposition error) universities. For (preposition error) Peking University alone, some 20 International conferences and sports events are hosted there (unnecessary) every year. Such rises (word choice) reflect the emphasis of campus to improve students’ overall ability (unclear – rephrase). In my opinion, it is wise of universities to do so (be specific, to do what?). It will not only enrich the leisure time of university students, (punctuation error) but also prepare students for their future careers.

As a report on (missing article) mental health of university students suggests, as much as 20% (missing preposition) teenagers on campus suffer from different kinds of mental diseases (word choice). This phenomenon reflects the overemphasis on academic achievement and the lack of leisure activities (for students) during their university years. Sports and social events, however, can fill the void. When students are fighting for their sports team or preparing for an incoming commercial (word choice) ceremony, a sense of achievement and relax (change to noun) would (change verb to “can”) spontaneously arise from their mind (rephrase). What’s more, the connection and cooperation between team members may bring them into a zoom (word choice error) that (replace with conjunction) students will feel they are not just working for themselves. They are in a team! This sense of belongings (singular) may help college students overcome every (remove) difficulty they temporarily face. They would (word choice error) end up having a stronger personality and an enriched heart (word choice error).

Moreover, exposing students to sports and social activities is beneficial to their future careers. Even though people attend universities mainly for academic purposes, they should admit that except for a few students, most of them would pursue their careers outside universities (unclear, rephrase). On this occasion (choose different transition phrase), communication skills and the (article error) sense of cooperation may play a greater role in future achievement. These soft skills, nevertheless, (unnecessary) can be obtained from sports and social activities.

Admittedly, academic skills are crucial to university students. But what we need to keep in mind is that students are expected to leave campus with more than that. (combine two previous sentences) They need to be a grown-up with overall abilities. (add more detail) In this sense, sports and social activities are equally important. These activities deserve more attention and a lean of financial support. (combine two previous sentences)
