From the lecturer’s point of view, the new regulation is worth being issued. The benefit of the new regulation exceeds the cost even under the concerns of the power company representatives.
The first supportive point in the lecture is the insufficiency of the current regulation. However, the power company representatives insist on the sufficiency of the current regulation. The content of the current liner regulation only regulates newly built land. However, old power sites are excluded from the current regulation. Environmental problems like drinking water being contaminated are caused by old sites that are not regulated.
The second supportive point in the lecture is arguing that the new regulation will not reduce people’s willingness to use recycled ash products. This is to challenge the statement in the passage of people’s concern about recycled coal ash. An example of mercury made products shows that there was no decline in the usage of mercury made products and it lasted for 50 years.
The third supportive point in the lecture is that the cost of the new regulation is considerably low compared to the benefits that the regulation brought. The lecturer understands the cost brought by the regulation.
