Some teachers prefer to record the lecture in advance so that students can familiarize first. In the class, students raise questions and discuss content related to the lecture. Do you think this method effective?

As the internet developing, the conventional teaching pattern gradually change to online teaching, like more professors tend to upload their teaching videos previously and then they can spend more time on interacting with students at classes. Given the following benefits, this is truly a high-effective teaching approach.

For students, it provides a better chance for them to have a better mastery of knowledge. For one thing, they have a whole night to comprehend the teaching content ahead of class. As for the special characteristic of videos, students can stop and replay it if they have requirement of spending time to thinking or searching related information. Thus, they have no worry about missing key points or losing focus. For another thing, more communication between professors and students in the lesson is also conducive to profound understanding of knowledge, especially to some elusive concepts or principles. For instance, in history class, frequent discussion of some historical events caused and background can help students to have clear understanding of the following consequences, like the constant and severe environmental damage generated by the Second World War.

As for professor, it seems time-consuming to record videos since extra time would be occupied, however, this actually saves their time when having classes. Since students have already coped with their simple questions when watching the videos, professors don’t have to waste time on explaining the basic knowledge that student have ability to solve by themselves. In class, professors can start a senior-level teaching that impart more complex and interested knowledge by exchanging different ideas with students. With less obsession from being asked too basic questions or even the same questions for many times, they would have more vigor and passion to emerge themselves in teaching. More than that, teachers also can receive a stronger sense of achievement because they accomplish their teaching job more excellent than others. Undoubtedly, this will bring a higher studying productivity.

In conclusion, it can infer that recording videos in advance and involving discussion on class can both facilitate students’ learning efficiency as well as elevating the teaching quality by professors.
