Teachers should not make their social or political views known to students in the classroom.

Teachers make an essential influence on their students. Not only do they teach students academic knowledge but also lead them to establish proper values. As a consequence, teachers should pay much attention to their words and deeds. For instance, teachers should not express their social or political opinions in the classroom. The reasons are as follows.

First, it’s a waste of time to discuss social or political topics in the classroom. As we all know, one of the most essential goals for students is learning academic knowledge. Teachers should seize the precious class time to teach their students useful knowledge as much as possible. However, most of the social or political topics are irrelevant to the knowledge students need to learn. Talking these may take too much time that should have been spend in textbooks. That would cause a lack of understanding of textbooks.

Furthermore, taking social or political views may make a negative effect on student’s values. Students, especially pupils, have a shallow insight in the society and politics. They are too naïve to make rational judgement. As a result, teacher’s words can easily make a great influence on them. If the teacher’s opinions are too radical or passive, that may cause a misleading to the students. They may bear in mind teacher’s negative views when they grow up to adults. Therefore, teachers should not express their views as they can not definitely ensure their perspectives are rational.

Last but not least, although talking social or political views are not advocated. There are some suitable views teachers can share. For example, teachers can share their instructive life experience to their students, which help students avoid mistakes. They can also discuss learning skills to help their students import learning efficiency. Although these topics also cost class time, them will help students save time in the long term. In addition, they guide students establish proper values as well.
