Although some people hold the view that it may make obstacles for development of other languages. I still believe that the spread of English has numerous advantages.

As a result, those companies need to use a common language to communicate with their business partners, English is the most appropriate language to consider. When all workers talk with each other in English, it may increase the efficiency of their work because they don’t have worries about languages, so that it reduce the time of communication. Secondly, using English as a ‘global language’ is quite convenient for people to learn more about the evolution of contemporary world. For example, people in China are really curious about up-to-date news of foreign countries, if they want to have a simple understand of matters happened in foreign countries, they don’t have choice but to learn English so that they can know the meaning of talks from journalists in foreign countries.

On the other hand, everything has two sides. Although it’s reasonable to recognize English as a ‘global language’, there also exist some drawbacks. For instance, it may impose some threat to the development of other languages. People all over the world are fond of learning English, neglecting languages in other countries, such as Chinese, Spanish, Japanese and so on. It’s valuable to try to learn these languages which are popular among the world. If people all focus on learning English, the culture diversity may be influenced a lot.

In conclusion, it’s not a bad opinion to regard English as a ‘global language’, it may bring some benefits to the cooperation of companies and boost the bond among people from various countries. To the contrary, it may lead to some reduce in culture diversity.
