A comparison of the relative percentages of the UK’s gross national product (GDP) between 1992 and 2000 is presented in this diagram. Specifically, the IT and Service Industry sectors are characterised with respective percentages of industrial GDP provided. Between 1992 and 1994, the Service Industry and IT sector experienced comparable growth and in 1996 both sectors demonstrated similar GDP percentages; however, the increase from 4 to 7% in the Service Industry at all times remained below the IT industry’s 6 to 8% GDP figures. However, between 1998 and 2000, the IT GDP percentage figures increased dramatically from 12 to 15%, whilst Service Industry GDP percentages hovered at around 8%. Clearly, these statistics demonstrate that a marked increase in the IT sector led to a substantial rise in terms of GDP percentage. Conversely, the GDP percentage figures concerning the Service Industry sector indicate stagnation in the final decade of the 20th century. [151 words]
