This line chart clearly compares the proportions of families who have five different technologies in UK over a period of five years.

It is noticed that the CD player had become the most popular product in the market of technology used in house during these years. Meanwhile, the Internet was not widespread in the early years before entering the 21st century.

Obviously, in 1997, the CD player acted the most important role in English people’s daily lives with 60%. And the proportion of family with one or more computers was the second largest with 40%. Besides, the remaining three categories were DVD player, telephone and Internet with 25%, 18% and 10% respectively.

Between 1997 and 2001, it is clear that all figures  except for DVD player’s one showed the rising tendency specially telephone whose data increased repaidly from less than 20% to 65%. However, the families with their own Internet changed less and the related value dropped to only 15% at 1998, but after that it bounded back and climbed gramatically to 50% in 2001.
