(Task 1: line graph) the line graph shows the average annual expenditures on a cell phone and residential phone services between 2001 and 2010.

The line graph compares the differences between the average yearly spending by Americans on cell phone and residential phone services over a period of 10 years.

It is clear that cellphones gradually became more important than residential phones, seeing that the service fees of cellphones increased steadily over the years and finally overtook residential phone service fees in 2006.

In 2001, US residents spent an average of 200 dollars on cellphone services, while the amount they spent on residential phone services was far higher, which reached 700 dollars on average. Over the following five years, the figure for residential phone services dropped by nearly 200 dollars. In contrast, the Americans’ annual expenditures on cellphone services rose by approximately 300 dollars.

In the year of 2006, the average figures the Americans paid for these two services were almost the same, which is about 550 dollars. By 2010, the fees of cellphone service paid the American residents had reached 750 dollars, but that of the residential phone services had fallen to only 400 dollars.
