Some people believe that there should be fixed punishments for each type of crime. Others, however, argue that the circumstances of an individual crime, and the motivation for committing it, should always be taken into account when deciding on the punishment. Some people believe that there should be fixed punishments for each type of crime. Others, however, argue that the circumstances of an individual crime, and the motivation for committing it, should always be taken into account when deciding on the punishment. Individual crimes are one of the most common social issues happening in our surroundings. However, the discussion focuses on whether a criminal’s background and motivation should be taken into consideration when deciding a crime. Personally, carrying on a fixed punishment is more advantageous for most cases.

    Apparently, fixing the penalty can not only simplify the procedures of a judgement, but also minimise a judge’s subjective impact on criminal cases. This is because when the judge participates in a large number of cases on one day or suffers from a personally unpleasant experience, it is hard to say that he would not be affected by these things and eventually make a biased decision. Thus, adopting a constant penalty enables to prevent such a behaviour from happening.

    Moreover, an uncovered punishment plays a vital role in curbing a specific crime. For instance, several years ago, the Chinese government has enacted a law, which particularly illustrates the penalty for cheating in the large examination. Subsequently, those who usually plagiarise others’ answers are more self-disciplined, and the cheating rate is dramatically decreased.

    That is not to say that the reason why an offender commits a crime should not be discussed in any cases. Indeed, a typical case which attracts most citizens’ attention may reflect an abnormal social phenomenon, such as the imbalance distribution of education resources and the high rate of unemployment. Therefore, an efficient strategy to tackle this case is to treat these criminals as patients and provide them with needed medicines: education and job training.

    In summary, fixed punishments should be extensively applicable to most criminal cases. Meanwhile, the authority must not neglect the circumstance and intention of criminals in several certain cases. By doing so, our society will be more comprehensive and harmonious.

    Issues:

    1. About 40% of the sentences exceed 20 words. Shorten/split them. These sentences are unnecessarily lengthy and wordy. i.e.’Individual crimes are one of the most common social issues happening in our surroundings.‘ can be changed to ‘Crimes are one of the most common social issues.
    2. Lots of grammatical errors;
    3. Coherence between sentences is bad. To improve coherence, the Subject of a sentence should echo the Subject, or the Object, of the prior sentence. Most sentences in your essay fail to do so;
    4. About 15% of the sentences are passive. Convert some of them into their active counterparts.

    I will send you screenshots to illustrate specific problems/errors.
