Universities should spend more money supporting social activities rather than improving the canteen food.

In order to attract the best and most diverse population, schools attach more importance to improving the quality of students’ lives. Some students claim that universities should spend money improving canteen food, as they get more chances to taste delicious food. My view is that supporting social activities is a much preferable option.

Firstly, supporting social activities students’ social networks. In social activities, there will be different students from different classes, different majors, even different grades on campus. They are unfamiliar with each other at first. During the activities, students are divided into several groups and are required to accomplish the same goal in a task. In order to finish the task well, members of the same group need to communicate with each other, share their ideas on solving problems, and seek reasonable cooperation. Students are able to know each other well from the task. It’s a good opportunity for students to build good relationships and make friends with people who they admire. Consequently, supporting social activities is beneficial for expanding students’ social networks.

Secondly, supporting social activities helps students’ all-around development. Social activities are accompanied by various elements, such as sports, music, travel and etc. . For example, students can go to some tourist attractions to visit museums, talk with local residents, and taste delicious specialties when they attend social activities to travel. When exposed to various local cultures and histories, students can have a better understanding of the Knowledge they’ve learned from textbooks. Obviously, students can learn different knowledge in social activities, which can’t be learned in classes. In consequence, supporting social networks is very helpful for students’ all-around development.

It’s true that students are more content with the canteen food after schools spend money improving canteen food. However, the rising living expenses, followed by upgrading of food in schools, can add burden on students from low-income families.

From what has been discussed above, I draw the conclusion that it is more advisable for schools to spend more money on social activities.
