Some people think that “vertical cities” where people live and work in tall buildings are better. Others, however, believe that “horizontal cities” where are few tall buildings are better.

There are more and more buildings in urban areas. Some people think that high-rise buildings are good for people to live or work, while others believe that low-rise buildings are better choices.

The main advantage of tall buildings is that they can make use of the land more efficiently. With the development of urbanisation, there is a continuously larger population in cities. Therefore, high-rise buildings can create more spaces for living and working. And more lands can use for parks or entertainment where people can relax. In addition, tall buildings create the skyline and make it possible for people to overlook the whole cities’ landscapes, including the sunrise and sunset, which are attracting and healing.

However, others argue that “horizontal cities” are better. The main reason is that low-rise buildings can save energy. For instance, when new commercial or residential buildings are built,   they always need fewer raw materials like stones, water. And this can contribute to the environment. What’s more,   if there is an emergency, like a fire or an earthquake, it is easier for people who live in low-rise buildings to escape and survive.

In my opinion, overcrowded cities need more space. This means that we should use the land more efficiently, which makes it necessary to build high-rise buildings. However, some low-rise buildings are also important and should be built reasonably. For example, Old traditional buildings are always storey low and part of cultural heritage. These can help us gain a better understanding of our culture and history.

There are more and more buildings in urban areas (very simple sentence). Some people think that high-rise buildings are good for people to live or work, while others believe that low-rise buildings are better choices. (what side do you agree with and why? This needs to be in the intro)

The main advantage of tall buildings is that they can make use of the (delete) land more efficiently. With the development of (increased) urbanisation, there is a continuously larger population in cities.
