Some people believe that when busy parents do not have a lot of time to spend with their children, the best use of that time is to have fun playing games or sports. Others believe that it is best to use that time doing things together that are related to schoolwork. 

Childhood is one of the best times in one’s life that can never come back again. However, as the society develops faster and faster, most of the adults live a fast pace life now, which lead to more limited time to spend on their own children. Under this situation, it might be a better usage of this time to have fun playing games or sports with children, compared to doing things together that are related to schoolwork.

The activity of playing games or sports together motivates children’s capability of practice and makes patents relaxed after a long-time busy work, which is beneficial both physically and psychologically for children as well as parents, first of all. On the other hand, that there’s barely fights or quarrels during playing, which also helps building a warm and happy family, does further good to children’s growth.

Considering the activity of doing things together that are related to schoolwork, secondly, there are many problems with it. For instance, children do a long-time schoolwork at school during the workday and have to do schoolwork again when they come back home stay with their parents, which may let the children feel like the only thing that worth doing is to finish the task assigned by schools. This evidently do harm to the growth of children as when they grow up and find that there’s no more school tasks to do, they may feel there’s nothing to do. Additionally, the parents may easily feel anxious or angry about their children’s accidental bad work since they have too little time staying with children to understand their real level. This may then let them to cast doubt on their children’s work at school and lead to useless quarrels, which does no good to children’s mental health.

Based on the analysis above, choice of having fun playing with children has clearly less risk than doing things related to schoolwork together. After all, study is a life-long task, maybe we should not push the children so hard at that early stage of life and let them have a fancier childhood.
