When teachers assign projects on which students must work together, students learn much more effectively than when they are asked to work alone on projects.

Entering the university, at least for most Chinese students, means that we have more chances to do team projects. However, the debate that whether team-work can let student learn more efficiently for a project than personal-work or not, is still heated. Personally speaking, I considers team-work is better for our study.

To begin with, the significant benefit of team work is that students could learn from each other. As a saying goes: one plus one is two, but one idea plus another can be various ideas. The saying strongly indicates the importance of the interaction and communication during finishing a task. When people communicate their ideas about one specific topic, it’s more likely for them to find out the defects and faults, thus they can correct and improve them together.

Moreover, it’s more likely to form a specific timetable or plan for a team project. It can prevent the causal time-management which usually exists in a single-person work. When we get a team, we will mostly have the meetings. The plan and timetable are always a essential part to discuss in the meeting, making the task more manageable. Therefore, the efficiency of the work can be greatly elevated, for no one would like to be blamed for missing the deadline.

Last but not least, student are more motivated when working in groups than alone. According to a newly proposed research in China, social activity can promote the motivation of a person in many aspects and even maintain the motivation in a long term, including study. With this result, we can draw a conclusion that team works, as a type of social activity, can motivate students in their daily work, which is helpful to finishing the mission, besides, even can benefit them in the future.

In my perspective, despite the single-person work has its benefits, with the above advantages of team work, we can easily come to a conclusion that team work is superior to the single person work in many aspects, which can benefit the efficiency of the tasks, the motivation of the participants, as long as mutual learning.
