Which one is the most important for high school teachers? (students aged 15 to 18)

1). The ability to give advice about planning for future.

2). The ability to recognize students that need help.

3). The ability to encourage students to learn outside of the classroom by themselves.

Nowadays, due to fierce competition in society, high schools attach great importance to adopting teachers’ ability in order to provide students with high quality education. Some people claim that teacher ought to have the ability to give advice about planing for future and to recognize students that need help. However, my view is that it is preferable for teachers to have the ability to encourage students to learn outside of the classroom by themselves.

Initially, encouraging students to learn outside of the classroom by themselves enables students to foster independence in life. With the rising of living standard, more and more students have the opportunity to study abroad in the future, which is far away from their hometown to learn more knowledge and achieve their dream. Therefore, it is imperative for teacher have the ability to encourage students to learn outside of the classroom by themselves. In this way, students will also develop a habit that they can learn by themselves outside of the classroom. Learning outside of the classroom by themselves is an excellent way for students to solve difficult problem in study instead of depending on teachers’ conduct. In addition, by learning outside of the classroom by themselves, students have the ability to deal with various problems in life by themselves when they live alone without their parents’ care. Thus, there is every reason to believe students have the ability of independent by learning outside of classroom by themselves.

Additionally, teacher’s ability to encourage students to study outside of classroom by themselves is really imperative for students to master more solid knowledge and skills. Not only can students master knowledge in classroom, but also they need master extracurricular and abundant knowledge in order to lay a solid foundation when hunting jobs in the job market. Consequently, study independently is a good way for students to grasp knowledge and skills. Students can use different ways to learn knowledge and skills by themselves. For instance, during a journey, not only could students have a deeper understanding of different culture and history, which broaden their horizon, but also they can encounter different people, and hone their communication skills through interacting deeply. As a result, students have a command of knowledge and skills.

It’s true that teacher have the ability to give advice about planning for future and recognize students that need help are good for students’ study and life, however, it’s difficult for teacher to grasp those two abilities in a short of time. From what we discussed above, I draw a conclusion that the ability for teacher to encourage students to learn outside of classroom by themselves is the most important ability.
