In universities, the study of professional courses is very important for the improvement of students’ professional skills. Studying professional courses is a significant way for students to learn theoretical knowledge. To achieve this goal, some students prefer the courses which are taught by professors who were recently given an award for outstanding researches. While others take the opposite view. Personally, I prefer to choose a course taken by a professor who proves to be very popular in students’ evaluations. Below I will elaborate on my views.

For one thing, the so-called popular professor is based on the evaluation of students, which reflects that he is a person with excellent teaching skills. The so-called more mature teaching skills, for example, such professors can usually improve students’ enthusiasm for class by citing some interesting examples, proposing some simple methods, etc. As a result, students are more engaged in class and enjoy interacting with the professor more. This kind of teachers’ teaching allows students to acquire important professional knowledge in a fun class.

Moreover, teachers who are more popular with students are usually more willing to help students when they are in trouble. In universities, professional compulsory courses are usually more difficult than other courses. And students often have variable problems in understanding the theoretical knowledge because the learning of theoretical courses is not as intuitive as that of practical courses. Professors who are more popular with students usually prefer to listen to students’ questions and are more willing to patiently help students analyze and solve the questions which is significant in students’ learning.

Finally, a more popular professor can usually spend more time and energy on improving students’ professional learning ability. The study of professional compulsory courses is usually not only in the classroom, students often need to spend a lot of time and energy after class to review, preview the course content and complete homework. Students will also encounter various problems in the study after class. Such professors are willing to provide time for students to grasp the professional knowledge even in the time after class.
