The world is changing fast, and our life is totally different from the past. Young people today have a better environment to grow up. However, they also meet more choices than ever before. Are they ready for those choices? Are they better able to make decisions by themselves than those in the past? My answer is yes.

Firstly, thanks to the development of education, teachers focus more on students’ ability to make decisions. In the past, people thought education is just imparting knowledge and making students able to make a living on their own. Teachers, however, didn’t tell them how to distinguish between right and wrong. Students were always hesitant while facing a choice because they didn’t know how to make a decision. No one had taught them before. Luckily, some educationists found this problem. They pushed the education system to be more comprehensive and perfect. Nowadays, in the school, students can not only learn knowledge in textbooks but also learn how to face real-world choices. Teachers will tell them how to make a decision with strategic and forward-looking vision.

Second, young people now can collect more information from the Internet to help their decisions. Many experts share their advice and experiences on the Internet. With the help of search engines like Google, youngsters can easily get useful information from the Internet. Even if they can’t find relevant information, they can post a question on an FAQ platform, then waiting for someone to answer it. The development of information technology promotes the propagation of knowledge. With help from the other side of the Internet, making a decision becomes much easier. However, in the past, people didn’t have such a convenient way to get information. With limited knowledge, they were unable to make decisions by themselves, so they had to depend on their parents.

In conclusion, with the help of more advanced education systems and the Internet, contemporary young people are better able to make decisions on their own instead of depending on their parents.

There is a public discussion nowadays about whether young people today are more independent in making decisions than those in the past. In my opinion, the young today are more decisive when they face choices. Here are two reasons to support my perspective.

Firstly, thanks to the fast development of education, young people nowadays are more likely to get a high-quality education. The governments of many countries have implemented a large number of policies to support students. For example, the government of China spends billions on education every year. With those large number of money, Chinese students don’t need to pay much on their tuition because the main part of the school fee is waived. Nearly every teenager can receive a high-quality education today. Thus, they have richer knowledge than youngsters in the past. As we all know, knowledge helps people make wiser decisions, and be better able to make a long-term plan for their lives.

What’s more, young people now can collect more information from the Internet to help their decisions. Many experts share their advice and experiences on the Internet. With the help of search engines like Google, youths of today can easily get useful information from the Internet. Besides, if there are no relevant results, people can submit a question on some websites or forums. Within one day, others will know your trouble and try to solve your problem. The development of information technology improves the propagation of knowledge. Helps from the other side of the Internet make young people more decisive to make a decision. However, in the past, people didn’t have such a convenient way to get information. With limited knowledge, they were unable to make decisions by themselves, so they had to depend on their parents.

In conclusion, better education and the Internet significantly enrich young people’s knowledge and outlook. Contemporary youngsters can make decisions on their own instead of depending on their parents.

Thanks to the development of information technology, nowadays we can easily hear various opinions from others through the Internet. And of course, the views from celebrities are the predominant part of all. There is a public discussion today about whether those views are more important to younger people than they are to the older. In my perspective, the opinions of celebrities have more influence on younger people.

Firstly, young people are more willing to absorb new opinions. They haven’t built their values and the perception of society. So they are very curious about others’ views of the world. For them, exchanging understandings of events is interesting, and they can always accept others’ ideas. As a result, the opinions of famous entertainers and athletes can be highly influential to youngsters. However, older people have more experience than younger people. Thus, they have formed their values which are hard to change. The influence of celebrities is much less for them.

Secondly, people are more willing to adopt opinions from their peers. This is reflected in many aspects of our daily life. For example, teenagers usually contradict their parents. It is not because the kids are unable to adopt their parents’ views but they are just reluctant to obey their parents. Another example is that old people refuse to absorb new opinions because of the outdated concepts they persist. Now, a fact is that most celebrities are young people, such as famous entertainers and athletes. Undoubtedly, young people are more affected by celebrities.

In a word, because young people feel free to absorb different opinions, and they are more willing to take in the ideas of their peers, celebrities can have more influence on them. As for the old, they are reluctant to accept new ideas because the out-of-date notions have entrenched in their minds.

Thanks to the development of information technology, nowadays people can quickly know about events happening around the world. There is a public discussion about whether knowing about overseas events is important, even if they are unlikely to affect our daily life. In my opinion, attentions to the events unrelated to us don’t make sense.

Undoubtedly, rich knowledge of worldwide events improves our understanding of the cultures of other countries. We can obtain some experience and impressions from these events which might be helpful in the future. However, although knowledge of overseas events can benefit us to some extent, it’s not necessary for everyone.

Firstly, if an event is impossible to affect our lives, the benefits it brings to us are also likely to be unnecessary. For example, a foreign country has changed its president recently. This event is closely related to the citizens of that country, but not to us. We only know this event has happened somewhere, but there is little we can learn from it. What’s more, the probability of mentioning it while chatting with our friends is nearly zero. How can a thing benefit us that we won’t even talk about it in our daily life?

Some people may argue that knowing about events happening around the world can benefit us indirectly, though not directly. Here is my second point. Everyone has limited time every day, and we can only do one thing at a time. We are facing a choice whether to spend our spare time in learning the events irrelevant to us or participating in other activities. Many things, such as doing more exercise or reading a book related to our majors, have direct benefits to us. I think it’s not difficult to make the right choice. Furthermore, considering that most students have a heavy burden of study, wasting time on knowing these meaningless events makes things even worse.

In conclusion, it is not essential to know about events happening around the world which will unlikely affect us.

With the development of society and the economy, our lives become more and more complex. As young people, we are facing lots of burdens and uncertainty. Therefore, having the ability to plan and organize for our life is particularly important.

Firstly, as we all know, the pace of modern life is faster than ever before. We are under high pressure from the study because our teachers assign a large number of tasks. In this case, if we could make a proper plan and schedule our time scientifically, our efficiency could improve significantly, which indirectly relieves our stress from the heavy workload. Take me as an example. I had no plan for my time in the past. As a result, I used to feel that there was hardly enough time to finish my work on time. Later, I took the advice from others to separate one task into several smaller ones and plan my time properly. I was surprised to find that I could focus more on a single task, and I could easily finish an assignment in the time I had expected. Undoubtedly, planning time improved my efficiency.

Besides, there is more and more uncertainty, so young people have to face many choices. Some young people are indecisive in front of a variety of options, which leads them to miss many precious opportunities. However, those who have arranged their lives for the long haul have clear goals and long-term plans. For them, making the right decision is easy when they are at a crossroads. Plans of their life and clear objectives help them seize every opportunity and make the best choice.

In brief, the organization of daily life can improve our efficiency of work and study. Meanwhile, a long-term plan for our future life can make us decisive while facing a dizzying array of choices. So in my perspective, young people need to have the ability to plan and organize.

There is a public discussion nowadays about friendships. Some people think the ability to maintain friendships for a long time is more important for happiness. Nevertheless, others consider the ability to make many new friends more necessary. In my opinion, the ability to sustain friendships is more important.

Undoubtedly, the ability to make new friends can bring us different kinds of friends. They have different personalities and stories. There are too many novel stories and engaging experiences from our new friends to share. Our life can be more colorful and full of happiness. Just imagine that wherever we go, we can always find several companions go with us, and whoever we meet, we can chat for a while. It would be unlikely that we are alone because we have plenty of friends.

However, if we put too much stress on the ability to make new friends and ignore the importance of maintaining friendships, it is easy to lose old friendships. Without intimate friends, no one can understand our unspeakable sadness. On the contrary, if we keep the relationship with our old friends, at least we won’t lose those who know us best. Even though a simple facial expression, we can convey meaning to each other swiftly. When we have problems that are hard to understand, our old friends will always support and believe us.

Furthermore, it is more likely to know a person comprehensively after getting on with them for a long time. When we make a new friend, they might conceal some shortcomings and pretend to be perfect in front of us. As a result, we will never know what kind of person they are as well as what exactly he is thinking. However, with an old friend, we know each other’s weaknesses, likes, and dislikes. So communication can be relaxing and enjoyable. We can knowingly avoid unpleasant topics and change to a theme we are both interested in.
