Most families attach great importance to a child’s education. Some parents think children should go on field trips, while other parents believe that studying in the classroom is a better choice. In my opinion, spending time learning in a classroom is beneficial for the child.

Admittedly, going on field trips such as museums can help the child to learn. For example, the child is readily impressed by the fantastic antiques in the history museums. In addition, expert persons are translating the history stories behind the antiques. Therefore, the child will learn history knowledge with interest and enthusiasm. However, I am still in favor of the view that children can learn better in a classroom.

In the first place, children can study with many peers in school. Encouraged by peer pressure and competition, children will study hard to surpass other students in the classroom. For instance, my sister Jane who is in primary school does not study hard at first. The teacher tells her that she can get a reward if her grades improve. Stimulated by the potential of the reward, she begins to study industriously from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day without being distracted by the mobile phone. At the end of the semester, she indeed had her grades elevated rapidly. Consequently, she became interested in study and the highest achieving student in her class. In this case, studying in a classroom can encourage children to learn actively.

In addition, children can learn a great deal of knowledge as teachers are good at different subjects with helpful pedagogy. To be more specific, teachers know how to attract children’s attention by talking jokes or playing games with children, and so on. For instance, the teacher can teach children English with funny videos. When I was a child, my teacher taught me to sing English songs by watching videos. I sang with the character in the video while dancing. As a result, I could sing English songs after watching videos only three times and became interested in English. Therefore, I do agree that studying in the classroom is helpful to children’s education.

In a nutshell, all the preceding discussion warrants an unshakable conclusion that studying in school is favorable for child education.

When it comes to whether grades can encourage students to learn, people are bound to hold different views due to their distinct educational backgrounds. In my opinion, I will argue grades can encourage students to study hard.

Admittedly, grades sometimes can not spur students to learn. For example, I have a friend called Paul who gets good grades each semester. However, he does not study hard except for the last two weeks before final exams. He spends several days remembering the knowledge will tested in the exams but does not have a comprehensive understanding of the knowledge. However, despite the particular case, I still think that grades can encourage students to learn.

In the first place, grades can stimulate students to study hard to apply for a scholarship with high grades. For instance, my roommate Jack, coming from a low-income family, has little money to buy new clothes. Therefore, encouraged by the scholarship, he studies industriously from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day to get high grades. He even does not allow himself to go shopping with friends on weekends so that he will have more time to study. Consequently, he not only receives the National Scholarship successfully but also becomes the most excellent student in our major. In this case, grades indeed enhance one’s enthusiasm for study.

In addition, grades elevate students’ study efficiency in class. To be more specific, as the performance in class will be graded, students will interact with the professors actively, like answering the questions, having eye contact with the professor, etc. Therefore, students will attach great importance to the classes and learn effectively. Take myself as an example, in the marketing class, the professor often organize group discussion in class. As the performance will be graded, I always participate in the discussion positively and answer the questions actively. As a result, the professor is impressed by me and I develop a deep understanding on marketing. What’s more, I not only become interested in marketing but also get a satisfied score in the final exam. Therefore, grades can spur student to behave well in class.

In summary, grades make students study hard both in class and after class. In a nutshell, all the preceding discussion warrants an unshakable conclusion that grades are beneficial to encourage students to study.

Some people think that young people depend too much on their parents when they make decisions in the past. However, young people today are more likely to make vital decisions by themselves. I agree with the statement. The reasons are as followed.

First, nowadays young people can gain access to the Internet which makes them get information and knowledge more conveniently. In this case, they can search for information to help them make decisions independently. The volume of knowledge on the Internet is too abundant to surpass their parents’ knowledge. Therefore, young people are able to gain more helpful information from the Internet other than their parents. For example, when students have to apply for grad school after graduation they always check the university’s official website to look up important information such as the admission rate and courses of a program. According to the info on the university website, students can have a deep understanding of a program and therefore they can make decisions to find a program for themselves. In this process, parents can give limited advice to them.

Second, in the past parents can help young people to make decisions because they have more experience in many aspects than young people. However, young people today can have more experience in some aspects than their parents. With the rapid development of technology, there are many kinds of electronic products appear like mobile phone and computer. Most young people are familiar with electronic products than parents. For instance, young people know how to select a mobile phone by comparing the price, CPU and other properties of mobile phones. In the contrast, their parents may don’t know much than their children about the properties of those electronic products. In this case, they may depend on young people to make decisions.

In a word, I think young people today can make decisions more independently.
