Nowadays, an increasing number of people are concerned about distance-learning programmes to study at home. However, whether using such a kind of approach is still a controversial issue. In my perspective, adopting it is not that unreasonable as people stick.

Firstly, it is more flexible in time management to study at home by using distance-learning programmes. Pupils can not only arrange their learning schedule in accordance with their own current situation but always have adequate time to rest. Therefore, with a timetable suitable for themselves, using that method to study at home can be efficient.

In addition, students will not narrow their horizons in that way. Owing to the Internet, TV and study material post, they can improve the ability to search for the useful information they need by which they can attain more knowledge and absorb better at a soaring speed, compared with attending college or university. In that case, this learning style can be advocated by most learners.

Whereas, that is not to say that choosing distance-learning programmes is a perfect plan. Some argue that once the programmes involve online materials, there must be some inference that distracts students to some extent. But such conditions indeed only happen to those who do not have strict self-discipline, which needs more supervision.

In sum, it is wise for people to use distance-learning programmes to study at home. Meanwhile, the distraction issue brought by the Internet is still needed to pay attention to, which also can be considered in the programmes design process. Only by doing so can we guarantee the advantage it brings to home learners.
