Write a response in which you discuss your views on the policy and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider the possible consequences of implementing the policy and explain how these consequences shape your position.
For the requirement of a central curriculum, my opinion is that it is necessary to enforce its implementation, but some flexibility of regional curriculum can also benefit the education system and the society.
An integrated curriculum can contribute to both teaching and learning environments being collaborative and positive. With the same content to be taught, teachers would gather together to discuss the materials and some great ideas get shared through this process. Especially, central curriculum can promote education in rural areas with inferior teaching qualities. Lacking the information is a major disadvantage for distant areas, however, it would be helpful if teachers there can get support from experts using the same materials in developed areas. From group discussion, students’ tendency to incorporate with each other to solve difficult problems with peers would be increased, the basic knowledge of recognition, the intelligence of critical thinking, the wide view to the world would be raised, which results in motivation of exploring more knowledge with passion.
The nation would have greater advantage in monitoring and evaluating local education. One raising discussion recently is about the fairness of education, integrated curriculum can mitigate the problem of imbalanced education resources by making a defined level of knowledge that all students need to acquire in schools. With a standard and fair criteria to evaluate teaching and learning progress, the department of education can focus on doing research and analysis to improve the education system and cultivate talents for society.
