Some people think that all school students should learn a foreign language. Others, however, think that a student should not be required to learn a foreign language if he or she does not have a talent for it. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

More and more people believe that learning a foreign language plays a vital role for school students. This view has numerous supports among parents and educators, while other individuals argue that students should not learn a second language.

Some people believe that all school students should learn a foreign language, such as English, French or Japanese. This idea has been held up by thousands of hundreds of parents and educators. To learn a foreign language or to become a bilingualist mean people are more easily to form another thinking way that is different from their lingual system. The benefit of this can enhance their ability to cope with complex and practical problems with critical thinking while not liner thinking, allowing and guiding them to make mise and well-informed decision. Also, it can provide a large number of chances to attend international events or activities. Therefore, they can show their abilities and exercise their social skills, probably as well as cultivate their leadership by doing voluntary work or organizing activities.

However, some people argue that a student who has no talent should not be forced to learn a foreign language. To a certain extent, it is true that if we require school students without a gift in langue to learn a second language, perhaps, it can cause a negative impact. It might make them upset and struggling if they don’t master a foreign language all the time. Eventually, it could influence other subjects. Moreover, learning a foreign language is not essential for most people, such as farmers, workers and even white-collars. Only some specialist occupations require staffs to master a foreign language, like interpreting, translation and some people who work in a multinational.

Overall, it seems advisable that students should learn a foreign language since their primary school, but not every student should learn a foreign. For those students who do not have a talent, knowing how to speak and how to use it simply should be sufficient.
